What Happened?
On January 20, 2020, Danny was working on a demolition project while on an extension ladder about 8 feet off the ground. As he reached for an item, the ladder suddenly broke, causing him to fall and land on his right knee, right wrist, and face. He lost consciousness for about 20 minutes but tried to continue working once he woke up. When his symptoms worsened, Danny went to a hospital, where he was evaluated, treated, and discharged.
As a result of the accident, Danny sustained serious injuries to his right wrist, right knee, and also developed post-traumatic headaches. His pain worsened with movement, walking, climbing stairs, standing up from a seated position, or gripping objects. He experienced weakness in his wrist, often dropped things, and struggled with tasks like opening and closing jars. Extending his wrist was very painful, sometimes producing an audible click. Danny wore braces on both his right wrist and knee for support.
Medical evaluation confirmed a right knee fracture, and in June 2020, he underwent surgery. Despite the procedure, he continued to experience swelling and instability in the knee. After several years of treatment, Danny was unable to return to work and will require ongoing medical care for the rest of his life.
