What Happened?
On October 11, 2023, Wilson was driving westbound on Meserole Street in Brooklyn when the traffic light ahead at the intersection of Union Avenue turned yellow. He properly slowed down and came to a complete stop to the red light. Seconds later, the car behind him crashed into his vehicle, causing Wilson to slam his chest and knee into the steering wheel. The driver who hit Wilson later told the police that the light was yellow and that she believed Wilson was going to continue through the intersection. Instead, when Wilson applied his brakes, she was unable to stop and rear-ended him. Wilson was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he was evaluated, treated, and released the same day.
As a result of the rear-end collision, Wilson suffered injuries to his neck, back, right wrist, and right knee, including a meniscus tear. After being discharged from the hospital, he continued to experience pain and had difficulty bending, sitting, and standing for extended periods. Wilson also struggled with lifting weighing more than 15 pounds, changing his own clothes, and standing for longer than 30 minutes.
When minimally invasive treatments failed to improve his knee and lower back conditions, Wilson underwent pain management injections, right knee arthroscopic surgery under general anesthesia on January 12, 2024, and a lumbar spine discectomy on June 17, 2024. Despite surgical intervention, Wilson continued experiencing ongoing right knee pain.
Wilson’s Settlement By Our Brooklyn Rear-End Accident Attorneys
Thanks to a trusted friend’s recommendation, Wilson contacted our office the very next day after the accident. While Wilson focused on his recovery, we handled everything else.
The defendant and her insurance company aggressively attempted to shift blame onto Wilson, claiming the defendant could not stop in time because of Wilson’s sudden stop. Despite their best efforts to avoid responsibility–and an initial settlement offer of just $50,000–our Brooklyn rear-end accident attorneys successfully proved the defendant was at fault and recovered a $450,000 settlement for Wilson–9X more than what was offered!
