On April 22nd, 2019, Ayube was driving Eastbound on Belt Parkway in Queens County, New York. As Ayube was stopped in traffic near 156th Street, another vehicle that was on the shoulder of the road suddenly pulled out into the same lane Ayube was driving in and rear-ended his vehicle! Apparently, the other driver was on her cell phone. As a result, she recklessly rushed out and failed to see Ayube’s vehicle.
Ayube suffered injuries to his lower back, left shoulder, left elbow and neck. With respect to the left shoulder, he had increasing difficulty with overhead activity, reaching out to the side and reaching behind his back. When conservative treatment failed to improve the pain and function in his left shoulder, Ayube underwent left shoulder surgery on September 4, 2019.
