What Happened?
On December 17th, 2017, Tristan was driving northbound on Bronx Boulevard when there was another vehicle coming out of a parking spot near the intersection of East 216th Street. The other vehicle struck the right side of Tristan’s car and his body was jolted side to side. He immediately felt pain in his neck and back. He was taken to Montefiore Hospital where he had diagnostic testing performed before being discharged home with pain medication. The next day he went back to the hospital for further evaluation since his pain progressively grew worse.
As a result of the accident, Tristan suffered injuries to his neck and back. The pain in his neck and upper back was aggravated by pushing and pulling. Tristan’s lower back pain grew worse whenever he was sitting and standing, and he experienced intermittent pain radiating down his right leg. He also complained of paresthesia (a pins-and-needles sensation) into the right lower extremity. An MRI of his cervical and lumbar spine revealed bulging discs and herniations. When minimally invasive pain management treatment did not improve his back pain, Tristan underwent pain management injections that provided him with some relief.
