The Facts
On July 7th, 2018, Benji was in a vehicle that was double-parked near the intersection of East Gun Hill Road and Paulding Avenue in the Bronx. While Benji was sitting in the front passenger’s seat of the car, there was another vehicle behind him that turned left onto the same street Benji was on and failed to see the parked car. With no time to stop, the vehicle smashed into the driver’s side rear! After the accident, Benji went to the emergency department at Montefiore Medical Center for evaluation and was released home within 24 hours.
As a result of the accident, Benji sustained neck, left shoulder, and lower back injuries. He described his pains as a combination of aching, stiffness, and dullness. He also felt a pins and needles sensation in the left arm. Since Benji only found relief when lying down, he was unable to go back to work. After grueling hours of physical therapy 3-5 days per week, he was able to resume work. His symptoms did improve with months of therapy, however, he still experiences intermittent pain with certain activities to this day, such as lifting his child.
