“Sometimes an unfortunate situation can be transformed into a blessing. This is the recent experience I had when Matthew Goodstein assisted me in resolving a very complex legal matter. To be honest, from the very first phone contact, everyone was supportive and efficient. But Matthew went above and beyond. He responded to all my questions in a timely, professional, and friendly manner. Ultimately, the resolution was in my favor, and I’m grateful for the assistance of the members of this firm.”

What Happened?
On August 3, 2021, Celeste was driving southbound on Bronx River Parkway on her way to visit a patient for work. Near the Bronx River Road exit, another driver, fleeing the police in a stolen vehicle, made numerous unsafe lane changes and attempted to drive between Celeste and the vehicle next to her. The other driver collided with the left rear side of her vehicle and sideswiped the vehicle next to her. Celeste’s car spun out of control, and she held tightly to the wheel. Ultimately, her car was deemed totaled by her insurance carrier. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where she was examined, treated, and discharged home.
Following the collision, Celeste suffered injuries to her neck, left shoulder, left elbow, left hand, and lower back. She experienced neck pain that radiated to her left upper extremity, accompanied by weakness and numbness. Celeste diligently participated in physical therapy for months but continued to experience severe pain, stating that she felt as if her left upper extremity was “broken” even though it was not. She had difficulty holding, grabbing, and lifting objects, resulting in her dropping objects. Moving her neck and sleeping became challenging and frustrating for Celeste. When minimally invasive therapy failed, she underwent a pain management injection and underwent neck surgery under general anesthesia on July 8, 2022.
Thanks to Instagram, Celeste learned about The Case Handler lawyers and decided to call our team for legal guidance about a week after the accident. The defendant’s insurance company claimed that since the vehicle was stolen and the driver did not have permission to use it, the driver was not covered under their policy and had no obligation in this accident. Despite the complex issues surrounding the accident, our experienced Bronx River Parkway accident attorney, Matthew Goodstein, helped Celeste recover the maximum policy limits of her supplemental UM/UIM coverage in the amount of $100,000.00!
