What Happened?
On July 4, 2013, Amy was shopping in a store when she suddenly slipped and fell due to a clear, greasy substance that was on the floor. She did not have enough time to catch herself and fell on her left side, twisting her right knee and striking her left elbow, left hip and lumbar spine. Thankfully Amy did not hit her head or lose consciousness from the fall. Amy went to Jacobi Medical Center, where she was seen in the emergency room, evaluated and released that day.
As a result of her fall, Amy suffered injuries to her back, left hip, and right knee. She tore her MCL and LCL in her right knee, which required surgery. She also had a grade I muscle tear of her left hip. Amy had to get steroid injections to ease the pain in her left hip. She suffered two bulging discs and one herniated disc in the mid-back area. Pain, discomfort, tenderness, weakness and restriction of motion all exist because of her fall.
