What Happened?
On September 11, 2018, Jerome was riding his bicycle to the bank along Remsen Avenue when a drunk driver came recklessly crashing into him from behind and subsequently fled the scene. The collision sent Jerome flying off his bike and he landed in the front yard of a local resident. He immediately stood up for fear that he was still in the street and would get hit again. He realized that he was not in the middle of the street and laid back down till the paramedics arrived. Due to Jerome’s condition, he was transferred by ambulance to Kings County Hospital Center. By that time, Jerome was unable to move his body. After spending the night in the emergency room, Jerome was left with stitches in his right thumb and leg, a hand split to secure his thumb, and a walking boot for his foot.
The accident left Jerome with acute pain in his head, lower back, right shoulder, right thumb and right foot. He reported soreness, achiness and weakness in his lower back and right lower extremities. Jerome additionally described a stabbing pain from his thumb that shot vibrations up his right arm. Furthermore, he recalled experiencing an incessant headache and dizziness in the weeks following the crash. His various ailments compromised his ability to perform simple functions such as walking, bending, sitting for prolonged periods and sleeping, particularly when changing positions in bed. MRIs confirmed Jerome’s suffering by revealing a fracture is his thumb, right foot, knee and ankle.
In the wake of this tremendous physical trauma, Jerome was uncertain as to the appropriate course of action. Since the vehicle that crashed into him had fled the scene, Jerome didn’t know who to hold liable for his suffering. Thankfully, Jerome’s uncle had often heard The Case Handler name and recommended that his nephew call and arrange a free consultation. Following their first meeting, Jerome remembered the freedom he felt in handing the burden of his case over to Adam Handler and Matthew Goodstein at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP. With The Case Handler team, Jerome got a breath of fresh air that he needed to focus on recovery.
