"What I liked most about Adam is that he’s someone you can really trust. The moment I met him, I just knew - this was the lawyer I wanted. We clicked right away. Honestly, Adam Handler is the best lawyer out there!"
- Edgar from Brooklyn, NY
What Happened?
Edgar was near the middle of the bus, preparing to board through the middle of three doors. He stepped onto the bus with one foot on the step and was lifting his other leg when the bus driver closed the doors, hitting his right leg and causing him to slip and fall, with his legs protruding outside of the bus. The pressure caused the doors to reopen. Despite the bus driver apologizing and Edgar notifying the MTA, he never received a call back from them. After the accident, Edgar went to the emergency room where he was evaluated, treated, and sent home with medication.
As a result of the accident, Edgar suffered a right knee tear and a right shoulder rotator cuff tear. He had difficulty walking and used a cane to help navigate. His knee remained swollen, and a few weeks later, doctors discovered fluid buildup in his leg. He was instructed to go to the ER for drainage. Edgar was admitted to the hospital, where he underwent surgery to drain the fluid. Afterward, he was discharged and had ongoing nurse visits to perform wound care at home. For a time, he experienced persistent leg pain and burning at the wound site. While Edgar was left with a residual scar, his wound healed, and his leg pain improved over time.
Edgar’s Settlement With Our Brooklyn Bus Passenger Accident Lawyer
While Edgar was still in the hospital, a nurse actually recommended Adam Handler to him (Wow, even the hospitals know The Case Handler)! Edgar contacted our team, and Adam visited him at the hospital. About four months after the accident, the MTA denied liability, claiming that the bus did not belong to them. Despite their denial, our experienced Brooklyn bus passenger accident lawyer proved that the bus was owned and operated by the MTA, and we helped Edgar secure a $170,000 settlement!
