What Happened?
On September 17th, 2017, Del was driving home on Atlantic Avenue when she stopped at the Warwick Street intersection around 3:00 p.m. When the turn signal turned green, Del proceeded to turn left. At that moment, another driver ran the red light on Atlantic Avenue driving towards Del and did not see her vehicle crossing the intersection. The other driver tried to drive around Del’s car to prevent an accident but it was too late. The driver struck the front passenger’s side of Del’s car and pushed her vehicle into a pole! Del was taken by ambulance to Brookdale Hospital where she was evaluated, treated, and released home with pain medication.
As a result of the accident, Del suffered injuries to her neck, back, right wrist/forearm, right shoulder, and head (post traumatic headaches). Her symptoms grew worse with motion activities such as turning, bending, sitting, and reaching. Other normal activities of daily living like household chores, self-care, sleeping, and work-related activities became increasingly difficult after the accident. When minimally invasive pain management therapy no longer improved Del’s neck and back pain, she underwent pain management injections and had lower back surgery in October 2021.
Thanks to her brother’s recommendation, Del contacted Adam Handler. Ironically, Del realized that she had already worked with Adam years ago for a different case and she was thrilled to have found him again! Geico, the Defendant’s insurance company, refused to pay Del anything, claiming that it was her fault for turning in front of the other driver. Their “no offer” quickly changed to $10k and then $20k after we filed a lawsuit. We got an offer, but it was not good enough! With the help of our talented Brooklyn left turn accident lawyers at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, Del recovered an impressive $90,000.00 judges award!
