What Happened?
On January 11th, 2019, Brother Jon went to the bank after work to deposit his check. When he finished, he walked to his car and got into his vehicle that was parked near 843 Hendrix Street in Brooklyn, New York. While sitting in his car, Brother Jon quickly looked in his rearview mirror and saw a vehicle speeding towards him with smoke! The car did not stop and crashed into the rear driver’s side of his car! Brother Jon remembered hitting his head on the steering wheel and his life flashing before him. The driver that hit him got out of the car to check on Brother Jon and then fled the scene on foot! Brother Jon was transported by ambulance to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.
As a result of the accident, Brother Jon injured his neck, back, and right shoulder. His neck felt very stiff and the pain radiated from his neck to his shoulders with tingling and numbness. CT scans confirmed that he suffered degenerative changes to his lumbar spine with mild lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) at L3-L4 and L4-L5 which can cause pain, numbness, or tingling in the lower extremity. He attended physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, and acupuncture at a frequency of three times per week. In total, Brother Jon had to go to therapy for about 9 months.
Dealing with the aftermath of the accident felt overwhelming. Brother Jon had never been in an accident and he had no idea how to choose a good lawyer.
