What Happened?
It was Thursday evening at about 8:00 pm on September 6, 2018. Michelle was tired from a long day’s work, but she was looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Everything happened so swiftly! Michelle was driving eastbound on Avenue P in her 2010 Chevrolet SUV with her young son in the passenger’s seat. As she mindfully approached East 18th Street, she had no idea that chaos was looming at the intersection! A man, who was driving a 2017 Honda pickup truck westbound on Avenue P, made an illegal left turn and failed to yield to the oncoming traffic. He crashed into the front end of the driver’s side of Michelle’s vehicle! As a result of the t-bone collision, Michelle sustained bruises to her collarbone and immediately felt a sharp stabbing pain in her back and neck. Her son also suffered bruises as a result of the accident. To add insult to injury, the driver claimed it was Michelle who collided with him! The police, fire department, and emergency services all rushed to the scene of the accident. Michelle was transported by ambulance to the Coney Island Hospital emergency room.
Due to her serious injuries, she had to refrain from any activity that exacerbated her symptoms such as heavy lifting, carrying, or bending. Her life would never be the same again.
