- Bethany from Springfield Gardens, NY
What Happened?
On April 27, 2023, Bethany was sitting in her work vehicle parked on the side of the road in Brooklyn, New York, enjoying her lunch break. While she was in the car, a large moving truck rental attempted to park and rear-ended the parked vehicle behind her. That impact then pushed the vehicle forward into Bethany’s car, while the truck also sideswiped the driver’s side of her work vehicle. Bethany felt the two impacts in quick succession. Her shoulders hit the steering wheel, and her left arm struck the driver’s door. When police arrived, they had to assist Bethany in opening her door so she could exit the vehicle. Although she did not initially feel seriously injured, Bethany went to the hospital, where she was evaluated, treated for her injuries, and released the same day.
As a result of the collision, Bethany suffered injuries to both shoulders, her left arm, and her back. She experienced mid-back pain radiating into both shoulders, along with significant shoulder pain that worsened with lifting, pushing, and pulling. Further medical evaluation revealed a tear in her left shoulder, as well as a disc herniation and disc bulge in her spine. When conservative treatment failed to provide relief, Bethany underwent a pain management injection in her back. Due to her injuries and the physical demands of her job, she was unable to perform heavy lifting and was out of work for one year.
