What Happened?
On June 6th, 2021, Daniel was riding his motorcycle in the middle lane on Meadowbrook State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead when he was struck in the rear by a car. When the police arrived and spoke to the driver of the vehicle that hit Daniel, they realized that the driver was drunk and using his cell phone when the accident occurred. The police arrested the driver at the scene. Daniel was taken by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center where he was evaluated, treated, and later discharged home.
Daniel injured his back and left wrist as a result of the accident. Although Daniel felt pain all over his body from falling down, the majority of the pain he felt was his back. Diagnostic testing revealed that he had suffered compression fractures in his spine and a small fracture in his left wrist (scaphoid wrist fracture). Daniel’s back pain felt worse while standing or walking and he had limited spinal mobility that made it difficult for him to bend down or twist. He experienced left wrist pain, swelling, and tenderness. Daniel was required to wear a cast for several weeks to help his wrist heal properly.
