On March 20th, 2014, Tia was driving through the intersection of Memphis Avenue and Coney Lane when another vehicle ran the stop sign and struck the passenger’s side of Tia’s vehicle. The force of the collision pushed her car into oncoming traffic and her car was struck again by a different vehicle head on, totaling her car. Thankfully, Tia did not lose consciousness and she was taken by ambulance to Franklin Hospital in Long Island, New York where she was evaluated, treated, and released home.
As a result of the accident, Tia suffered multiple injuries including her neck, shoulders, lower back, and knees. She felt her neck pain go into both shoulders. She had several bulging discs and disc herniations in her spine which caused her a great deal of pain. The worst pain she felt was in her knees, mainly the right knee, and it was very difficult to kneel down. She participated in physical therapy, received pain management injections, and later underwent surgery to her right knee (meniscus tear) and right shoulder. Tia was incapacitated from working due to her injuries from the accident.
