What Happened?
On September 5, 2024, Monica picked up her husband and was about to exit the Deer Park train station. When the light turned green, she began making a left turn when another driver ran a red light and crashed directly into the driver’s side of her car, right where Monica was sitting. The impact was so severe that all of the airbags deployed. Monica was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she was evaluated, treated, and released home. A couple of days later, due to worsening pain and symptoms, she sought additional care at another hospital for further evaluation and treatment before being discharged.
As a result of the crash, Monica sustained injuries to her right knee, right hip, and neck. She also experienced severe headaches and radiating pain into her right arm and leg. Despite several months of physical therapy, she continued to struggle with persistent neck pain extending into the right upper extremity, along with ongoing knee issues. While her hip improved and her knee pain became more intermittent, her neck pain remained the most debilitating. When conservative treatment failed, Monica ultimately underwent neck surgery under general anesthesia in May 2025.
