What Happened?
On July 4, 2016, Sequan was driving east on 137th Ave in Queens, NY when another vehicle ran a stop sign and drove right in front of him. With no time to slow down or stop, Sequan and the other vehicle collided (T-bone accident). Fortunately, the airbags deployed which likely prevented worse injuries from happening to Sequan. After the accident, he was rushed by ambulance to Jamaica Hospital.
Sequan suffered a broken nose, a busted lip, and injuries to his head, back, and neck. He described a sharp pain that felt like stabbing in his lower back. He also mentioned a sharp stabbing neck pain that radiated to his left and right shoulder. Sequan had facial and jaw pain associated with his broken nose. His injuries were severe and interfered with daily activities to the point where he had to take time off from working. Lateral rotation, extension, prolonged walking, sitting, bending, lifting and pulling worsened his pain. Bed rest and non-steroidal medication helped alleviate his pain.
Sequan’s aunt had heard about Adam. She told Sequan to contact The Case Handler team! After some investigation, our team realized that the other driver did not have car insurance coverage. Thankfully, Sequan had Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UIM/UM), which protects you as a driver in the event that you are injured by a driver with not enough insurance or no insurance. As a result, our team was able to recover a $27,000 settlement for Sequan!
