The Facts
On January 25th, 2019, Isma was working as a delivery driver in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn, NY. While Isma was riding his bicycle at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 11th Street, a truck making a u-turn did not see Isma riding his bicycle and struck him! Isma lost consciousness for about five hours and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released.
As a result of the accident, Isma injured his back, right knee, and right hand/thumb. He sustained fractures to the left side of his ribs, a fractured right hand, and an ACL tear to his right knee that required surgical intervention on June 27, 2019. Isma spent two days in the hospital and was confined to bed for approximately 8 weeks.
Thanks to a friend’s recommendation, Isma decided to call The Case Handler team! When it came time to negotiate with the defendant’s insurance company, their best and final offer was $250,000. It was an enticing offer, especially during a pandemic when the courts are still closed with no idea when a trial could happen if we refused to settle. Isma wanted to take the offer, but The Case Handler team at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco understands that a client has one chance to get it right; one chance for maximum compensation for an injury. We knew that Isma’s case was worth more than $250k, so we refused their “best” offer. With the help of our diligent Park Slope bicycle accident attorneys at PPID, we successfully recovered more than twice the amount of compensation offered by the insurance company!
