What Happened?
On March 2nd, 2020, Titus was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle that was waiting at a red light to turn left at the Boston Post Road and Esplanade intersection in Westchester, New York. When the light turned green, the vehicle he was in yielded to passing traffic before attempting to turn. A few moments later, some vehicles with the right-of-way stopped and waved at Titus to pass. As they turned, another vehicle from the opposite direction veered around the stopped cars and hit their vehicle on the passenger’s side! The collision caused Titus to hit his head and right shoulder against the passenger side door. He was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital where he was further examined, treated, and later discharged with pain medication.
Titus injured his neck, lower back, and right shoulder due to the accident. Several months later, Titus continued to have difficulty with daily chores, walking, sitting for more than 10 minutes, using the stairs, and working. He experienced intermittent and dull neck pain, intermittent and sharp lower back pain, and constant and sharp right shoulder pain. Neck movements, bending down, and lifting with his right arm would all exacerbate his symptoms. As a result of his persistent high level of pain and a failure of conservative treatment, Titus underwent neck and back pain management injections, and right shoulder surgery in August 2020.
