Police Chase Accident Attorney Review: Lena

What Happened?

It was like a scene from an action movie! However, instead of sitting in a reclining chair, Lena was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car involved in the accident – her experience was real! It was August 17, 2018, and she was on her way to her son’s house. It was a bright and hot summer day. Lena was looking forward to a peaceful afternoon with her son and family. Suddenly, she heard sirens approaching her from behind. It was just another day on the road and she did not think much of it at the time. The motor vehicle in which Lena was in, made a left turn at an intersection. At that moment, a vehicle being chased by police officers for drug-related crimes collided with the front driver’s side of Lena’s vehicle! Lena immediately felt pain in her left shoulder and upper back. As a result, she was expeditiously transported by ambulance to the Waterbury Hospital emergency room.

Her initial MRIs showed tender points along the paracervical and upper trapezius bilaterally and joint instability with decreased passive range of motion. As a result of these injuries, Lena experienced excruciating pain whenever she moved. Her later MRIs showed left posterolateral herniation in the lumbar spine, direct impingement of the lumbar spine, and disc bulging in her lumbar spine.  As if those injuries were not enough, Lena was also injured in her cervical spine. A CT scan of her cervical spine showed multilevel paracentral herniations, disc bulging, and disc herniation.  To make matters worse, an EMG/nerve conduction study of her lower extremities showed evidence of bilateral S1 Radiculopathy. To alleviate the pain she was experiencing, Lena had to undergo several epidural injections.

Lena’s glimmer of hope came after speaking with a loved one who used to be a client of ours. The past client told Lena that if she wanted top quality service, she should hire the personal injury team at PPID. Good thing she did! The driver that hit Lena was in a car rental and the insurance company denied liability because the driver had no permission to drive the car.  While it appeared to be a hopeless case, Lena was thankfully prepared and had UIM/UM coverage!  As a result, we were able to recover the maximum policy limit under her uninsured motorist coverage (UM) thanks to our experienced personal injury team at PPID!
