What Happened?
On Friday, September 27, 2019, Ronnie was driving eastbound on 95th Avenue around 4:45 a.m. As he crossed the intersection of 132nd Street in Queens, NY, he was suddenly t-boned on the front passenger side by a NYC police car that did NOT have its lights or sirens on. After the crash, the police officers who hit Ronnie lied in their police report, falsely claiming that Ronnie was speeding through the intersection and that his reckless driving caused the accident. Ronnie was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he was evaluated, treated, and released the same day.
As a result of the t-bone collision, Ronnie suffered spinal injuries to his back and neck, along with post-traumatic headaches. He experienced severe back pain that radiated into his left thigh, which worsened with standing and improved when lying down. Ronnie participated in physical therapy and received pain management injections, but only found temporary relief.
Ultimately, Ronnie underwent ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) neck surgery in January 2020 and lower back (lumbar discectomy) surgery in March 2021, both under general anesthesia. While surgery improved some of his neck symptoms, several months later, Ronnie could still only sit or stand for about one hour at a time without difficulty. He continued to experience increased pain with lifting, bending, turning, cold weather, or remaining in one position for long periods. He also had difficulty sleeping due to pain and was unable to work.
Ronnie’s Queens NYPD Car Accident Lawyer
Thanks to a trusted friend’s recommendation, Ronnie contacted our office the following Monday after the accident. Since the NYPD blamed Ronnie and falsely documented the incident, we stood by him and prepared to take the case to court. At trial against the NYPD, attorney Matthew Goodstein and our team not only proved that Ronnie was not speeding and was not responsible for the accident, but also secured a $1,999,000 settlement at trial.
Despite the defendant’s lies and refusal to accept liability, our Queens NYPD car accident lawyer exposed the truth in court.
