What Happened?
On October 18th, 2018, Davida was working as a passenger inside of an armored truck that broke down at JFK airport. In order to protect the valuables that were inside, Davida stayed inside of the truck while it was getting towed around 10 p.m. at night. Unfortunately, the driver of the tow truck did not strap down the vehicle properly. The armoured truck fell off the tow truck, with Davida inside, and slammed into another truck! Davida remembered hitting her head and feeling pain immediately after the accident. She went to the emergency room at a Northwell Health location where she was evaluated, treated, and released home with pain medication.
As a result of the accident, Davida suffered injuries to her neck, back, and left shoulder. She described the worst area of pain in her neck as a constant aching and throbbing sensation that felt worse with head movement. She frequently experienced headaches and occasional dizziness. Davida’s back pain was a constant aching and sharp sensation that was aggravated with prolonged activities. She described the pain in her left shoulder as an intermittent aching sensation that felt worse with heavy lifting. When conservative therapy failed to improve her back pain, she underwent pain management injections to her back. For some time, Davida experienced difficulty sleeping and was unable to go back to work.
