- Elodie from Queens, NY
What Happened?
On September 1, 2023, Elodie was driving east on Linden Boulevard on a service road in Queens, New York. She was next to a bus and about to pass through the intersection of 79th Street with a green light when another vehicle attempted to pass the bus and turned onto a oneway street going the wrong way, failing to see Elodie. The other driver, traveling at a high rate of speed, collided with the front of Elodie’s vehicle. Her airbag deployed, and she was in extreme pain immediately after. Elodie was taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was examined, treated, and discharged home the same day.
Following the collision, Elodie suffered injuries to her neck, bilateral shoulders, lower back, and knees. She complained of persistent neck pain that radiated to her shoulders, worsening with overhead reaching. She also experienced occasional numbness in both arms. Bending over, prolonged standing, and walking exacerbated her lower back pain and knee pain. After several months of physical therapy and unsuccessful minimally invasive pain management for her right knee, Elodie underwent right knee surgery under general anesthesia in March 2024.
Thankfully, Elodie heard about The Case Handler team and contacted us less than a week after the accident. To get the defendant’s insurance company to cooperate and take this matter seriously, we prepared to take them to court. After filing a lawsuit, the defendant’s insurance company initially offered $45,000 to settle. Our skilled Queens wrong-way car accident lawyer rejected their offer as it was too low. With the help of our personal injury team, all of Elodie’s medical bills were paid, and she recovered a $75,000.00 settlement in just 10 months!
