What Happened?
On September 20, 2022, Rebecca was visiting a friend in Staten Island, NY. When the crossing signal was displayed, she began walking across the intersection of Richmond Road and Old Town Road. At the same time, a pickup truck with a green light turned left from Old Town Road and struck her. The driver claimed that Rebecca wasn’t in the crosswalk and had stepped in front of the vehicle, making the collision unavoidable. Although Rebecca admitted to walking “along the edge” of the crosswalk, she had looked both ways before crossing and was halfway across the street when she was hit. Initially, Rebecca went home, but as her pain intensified, she was taken by ambulance to the emergency room. She was admitted to the hospital for 15 days.
