What Happened?
Juliet was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of W. Hartsdale Avenue and S. Central Avenue in Westchester County, NY when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle reported that he was slowing down to a stop since the light turned yellow, but his foot slipped off of the brake! His vehicle continued to roll forward and hit Juliet in the intersection. Juliet was taken by ambulance to the hospital. She was evaluated, treated, and discharged home with pain medication.
As a result of the accident, Juliet injured her lower back (lumbar spine compression fracture, disc bulges, and herniations), left leg, and right hand/thumb. She described the worst area of pain in her lower back. The pain in her lower back was a constant aching sensation that would travel down her left leg. If she was sitting, walking, or standing for a prolonged period of time, her lower left leg pain grew worse. Juliet’s right thumb was also constantly aching and was aggravated by movement. She attended therapy and underwent several pain management injections to her lower back, microdiscectomy, and lumbar spinal fusion surgery. Due to her injuries, Juliet was incapacitated from working.
Thanks to her cousin’s recommendation, Juliet decided to contact The Case Handler team! The Defendant’s insurance company offered $900,000 to settle her claim. It was a huge offer, but we knew it was not enough for Juliet. So we rejected it! With the help of our Westchester County personal injury lawyers at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, Juliet recovered the FULL AMOUNT of insurance available in the amount of $1,250,000.00!
